The Prince of Wales will represent the COP30 climate summit in South America during November, according to the royal household.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a event leading up to the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The royal pair were in attendance at the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America before the COP summit.

Royal sources have characterized Prince William's attendance at the next COP as assuming an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the state Bentley, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This involvement featured addresses in concert with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Connection

The climate conference will align with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in the Brazilian city the previous day he attends the COP summit on 6 November.

Last week the royal figure characterized the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a key figure at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"I have spent a substantial portion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks facing us over global warming, climate change and biodiversity loss," the King told attendees.
